31 Days of Weddings-Day 31: Elegant Barn Weddings

Here we are, at a close of our 31 Days of Weddings. I thought it would be appropriate to include a theme that has taken over the end of 2012-Elegant Barn weddings. These weddings, unlike just rustic style ones, include so much glamour and vintage accents that you wouldn’t think would pair with the rustic elements of nature and barn wood, but it does-and beautifully I might add.

Barn weddings themselves have a sense of history, charm and warmth to them, and adding glitzy elements to them can make them breathtakingly elegant.

Add drapery into the entrance way for that lush elegant feel right away.Image

You can also use lace accents on your table mixed with burlap or even real linens for a touch of elegance on your tables. Keep your centerpieces romantic with floral but keep it rustic by placing in mason jars or wine bottles.

We hope these last 31 days have inspired all of you to think outside the box for your wedding, and dare to have something different that is uniquely-YOU.

Happy New Year everyone! May 2013 be even better than 2012!

31 Days of Weddings-Day 30: Under the sea theme

Under the sea themes are different from beach themes and nautical themes. With this, create the atmosphere for your guests of being thrown deep down into the waters: flush the entire room blue to give the feel of being immersed in water (place up lighting around the perimeter of the room and if you’re fancy, even do blue overhead lighting with white spot lighting).

You can use bright colors to represent the colorful life found in the ocean, and make it more fun, or keep it white for a more serene underwater feel. sea 5sea 4

I love how you can hang ceiling decor to look like seaweed-even strands of crystals can give this effect and will add a touch of bling and glitz to the space, similar to the way sunlight looks when it hits water.

sea 2You can choose many invitation options that will work but remember to make sure it has elements of underwater life to it: water mixed with fish, or sea horses, etc. Don’t just use a shell or anchor as that would represent more beach theme or nautical theme. sea 3

You can also choose to be fun and bright with your cake or go more traditional by keeping it white and adding brightly colored sea creatures and elements.

31 Days of Weddings-Day 29: Beach Theme

We have so far covered nautical weddings and hawaiian/caribbean themes, but that still leaves us with a Beach Theme.

Beach Theme weddings play more into simple elements-blue water, sand, shells/starfish, messages in a bottle, etc. They tend to not use bold colors like in the caribbean style, and stick to more watery blues and whites with the touches of brown from the sand.

31 Days of Weddings-Day 28: Baroque Theme

For many of us, the word baroque is a term we don’t use often. As defined, baroque means a characteristic of styles and art developed in Europe from the early 17th to mid-18th century, emphasizing dramatic, bold elements and elaborate and extravagant styling. These weddings tend to be very over the top in everything from dresses, to decor, to the design of the cake. They are truly one of a kind.

You can’t really get more lavish than a Baroque Wedding.

31 Days of Weddings-Day 27: Love Birds Theme

As with the rustic theme, a love birds wedding theme is increasingly growing since early 2012. There is something about the sweet, simplicity of this theme that is very appealing to today’s brides. Our take on Love Birds, is a more vintage/rustic one.

For the ceremony, I love to use a twig arch for your altar space to create that “love nest” feel-rustic elements of the twigs and other items found in nature truly give it the look of a birds nest, adding to your theme. You can also use vintage birdcages hung on tall hooks along your aisle way for a more vintage look. Image

There are many routes you can take for your invitations-anything with the addition of two birds on them will work.ImageImage

Our pick for accessories are more traditional but with the use of burlap-a very raw element to give it that rustic edge and of course, accented with love birds images.Image

For the reception decor, you can add elements of tree branches, and any other elements found in nature for your centerpieces. Add love birds guest favors such as small nests filled with sweets, or love bird shaped candles to repeat your elements on your guest tables. Use real tree slabs as cake stands for an added bonus.

Your cake can be created many different ways, similar to your invitations. Keep if very traditional by just adding a love birds cake topper, go really rustic with adding twigs and natural elements to the cake itself, or go more modern like the cake below. Image

Whichever route you decide to take, a love birds theme provides a very sweet affair!

31 Days of Weddings-Day 26: Vineyard Weddings

Vineyard weddings are perfect for anyone for a love of wine. While it is more convenient to have an actual winery nearby, you don’t need to have one in order to capture the essence of one. Use barrels, grapes, and purples/greens to represent grapes in your decor, keep the lights dim with romantic candlelight, and keep table linens simple.ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

31 Days of Weddings-Day 25: Eco-friendly wedding

Eco-friendly weddings are becoming increasingly poplar. These couples tend to lean towards  recyclable papers for invitations and thank you cards, natural elements in their decor, guest favors that consist of plants or seeds, and anything else that decreases the effect on our planet. These weddings can be just as beautiful and chic as any other theme. ImageImageImageImageImageImage

31 Days of Weddings-Day 23: Spring Wedding

Spring weddings bring gorgeous and bright flowers into every element, from the bouquets, to the reception centerpieces. Popular spring flowers to use are: roses, tulips, daffodils, peonies, and gerber daises, but you can incorporate any other brightly colored floral into the mix, or add touches of classic wedding flowers such as calla lilies to add some white. ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
